Back to Silver Spring from my adventures in the midwest :) It's nice to be back for a couple of days relaxing in a familiar place. I'm hoping I remember enough about my recent travels to blog about them a bit!

The trip to Colorado a couple of weeks ago was great! I arrived to Denver on a Tuesday - drove a rental car a couple of hours to Edwards to meet Brandon at a Starbucks. The drive was breathtaking - had a couple of near accidents while staring at the mountains. Brandon was so cute, it felt like way less than a year since I had seen him. Dropped off the rental in Eagle, went to his house in Gypsum (home of drywall!), then over to Glenwood Springs. As a surprise, we rode a tram up to the top of a mountain, rode on an alpine slide through the valley, and had dinner at the mountaintop restaurant. Nice welcome!

The next day, I woke up to read in a hammock and have breakfast with his mom and 2 beautiful dogs, with a gorgeous view of the mountains and the shining sun - heaven! They also have horses roaming around the house that his mom designed. Wish I had pictures!
Soon as Brandon woke up, we went to meet his dad for a bit (sweet guy!) then headed to Vail where Brandon told me stories about the American soldiers of the 1944 world war learning to ski there so they would be able to fight through snow in the Swiss Alps. Who knew? (not me!). After exploring for a while, it was time to go meet Amy! We took the scenic route through the town of Leadville (at 10,000 feet above sea level - the temperature dropped from 95 to 65 degrees when we got up there!)
We also drove over Independence Pass, a long winding road on the tops of cliffs. After meeting up with Amy in her adorable Basalt home, we all went to a party at Aspen Deaf Camp since the staff was on break between sessions. I was surprised to see many Tri-Sigs there! There was lots going on, with a movie playing, food, drinks, beer pong, full body massages, etc. It was so cold after the hot day, but I was curled up in blankets outside laughing all night, especially at John Slone's Viagra story (just as it sounds, the adventures of a 20-something male popping Viagra pills!). The staff was very cool - after all, 8 of them had their nipples pierced the night before!

Kayla's home from daycare!! To be continued....

OOH I wanted to wish a HAPPY belated BIRTHDAY to ERIN Elizabeth!!!!
I so wish I could have been there to help celebrate the beginning of your amazing 25th year!
Lots of love and best wishes - miss you, girl xoxo
