The Hamptons was so great! The house, the pool, the beach, burning my feet on the hot sand, the food, the weather, the bike rides, playing with Kayla, hugging my mom, sleeping, laughing, Jazzy's birthday surprise.... ahh.

Now I'm back to a working lifestyle. BUT it doesn't feel that way!! The days go by sooo fast and from what I'm being told, that's not going to change. My connecting flight to Indianapolis was cancelled on Sunday night, so I stayed overnight in VA until Monday morning, and didn't get to work until 1pm. My supervisors were sooo thrilled and greeted me with big hugs. That perfectly describes their personalities. They had moved their office all around and upside down to fit in a 3rd desk, so now it is all nice and cozy. The rest of the afternoon, we filled my schedule for the week, met some other people in the Assessment Center, and generally just chatted. The staff is so friendly and welcoming, what a relief!

Back in the dorm, I met a couple of the RAs on my floor who are students at a nearby university - so I joined them for dinner with the middle school students. THE FOOD IS GOSH-AWFUL. Lunch isn't so bad.... I have lunch in the preschool/elementary school cafeteria. The students often come up to me and say, 'who you?' Soo cute.

Yesterday, I joined my primary supervisor, Terri, to a case conference about an incoming foreign exchange student. The team decided that he needed testing, so Terri volunteered for me to do it that morning. Um, I just arrived!?? But it all went smoothly, thanks to my fabulous Gallaudet training *mmhmm*
The rest of the afternoon, we were running around to meetings, introducing me to mannnny people, filling up my schedule some more, etc.... gosh.

Last night I finally went out to get toothpaste and a pillow. Drove around for a couple of hours exploring. Nice! Can't wait to get out more.
This morning, we had a department meeting and it was soo intense. (in a good way!) Everyone's so open and honest and well-spoken. After the meeting, I wrote a report on the student I had tested, did a walk-through at the high school, meeting staff and students, and did an in-service presentation on ADHD to the middle school teachers. Tomorrow, I have 3 case conferences scheduled (one of which I will be the presenting school psychologist!), and a testing session. What fun! :)

I doubt I will continue to explain my work days in such detail, but wanted to give a taste of what my year will be like!

Next week, some students from Ball State University will be moving into the dorm for the entire school year as well, to train and become teachers of the deaf. Will be nice being around more people my age (although there are plenty here already).

So far, so good. :)
Off to run before the sun sets....
